I served in the Army.

Kenneth Dean Kaufman, 83, of Neodesha, Kansas, went to be with his beloved wife on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. At the request of the family, cremation has taken place under the direction of Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. A celebration of Kenny’s life will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 10:00 am at Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha Kansas. The family has requested that you wear your favorite Kansas City Chiefs, Royals, or Jayhawks shirt or hat for the service.

Kenneth Dean Kaufman was born on November 7, 1934 to George and Cora (Schwab) Kaufman on the family farm in Gridley, Kansas. Kenny grew up working on the family farm with his four brothers. Kenny attended and graduated from Gridley High School in 1953. In 1959, Kenny entered the United States Army, and toured the world until being honorably discharged in 1965. After leaving the Army, Kenny met the love of his life, Shelia Schoonover. The two instantly knew that they would spend the rest of their life together and married on September 29, 1967 in Miami, Oklahoma. Kenny and Shelia welcomed four children through the years, while making their home in Neodesha, Kansas. Kenny was a jack of many trades and a master of many jobs through the years, he owned and operated a gas and service station, Kaufman’s DX, and worked for many years at Giltner Motors and other body shops in the area. Kenny will be remembered by many for his love of the Neodesha Blue Streaks, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas Jayhawks. Most of all, Kenny will be remembered as being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who would do anything and be any where to support his family.

Kenny’s memory and many stories will live on through his son, Robert and wife Dawn Kaufman, of Neodesha, KS, daughters, Becky and husband Gary Frazier, of Coffeyville, KS, Lisa and husband Josh Shoop, of Neodesha, KS, and Carla and husband Andy Green, of Bentonville, AR, brothers, Alvin and Raymond, sixteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Kenny is preceded in death by his wife, Shelia Kaufman, brothers, Charles and Dale and his parents. Memorial contributions may be left to the Neodesha Booster Club and be left with Loran Fawcett Chapel. A special message may be left to the family by going to www.loranfawcettfuneralhome.com.
